An adventure may need adventurers - but a funnel needs villagers!

This is a deck of 54 quirky villagers ready to run, either bravely or with soiled drawers, into a delightfully lethal funnel of your choice. Shuffle them up and deal a couple to each player.

54 Funnel World Villagers - Seagull Dreams' first publication - now on itch!

While these villagers were created for Freebooters on the Frontier by Jason Lutes, they are also compatible with Dungeon Crawl Classics by Goodman Games. All abilities were rolled as in DCC, 3d6 down the line, with the exact same modifiers. If using with DCC: simply roll 1d30 to record your luck score and ignore the luck score on these cards. Also ignore the wisdom score listed on these cards. Gear and occupations are slightly different but comparable (with some additional info like tags and weight). Instead of alignment, two character traits are provided with each villager, for inspiration.

Print-on-demand decks are available with custom tuckbox through DriveThruRPG.

Depending on how you'll be playing, you don't need to download all 4 files. Here's what each download includes-

  • 54villagers_8.5X11printathome.pdf is for printing at home for in-person play. This single pdf has all 54 villagers, ready to print and cut out with landscape 8.5"X11" paper.
  • 54villagers_digitalcards.zip is for online play. The zip file has all 54 villagers, each separated into their own jpegs with illustration and stats, making it easy to send a few to each player digitally.
  • 54villagers_png-tokens.zip is also for online play. Here are portrait tokens (pngs with nice transparency) for all 54 villagers.
  • 54villagers_portraits-highres.zip could be for both online or in-person play. I see them most useful for GMs to print out to show off an NPC their group runs across at the table. Or, you know, print off your favorite and hang it over your fireplace maybe? These are the original resolution I drew them at, which is suitable for a crispy 5"X7" print at 300dpi. Please enjoy.

Great stuff! Thanks alot! What is the exact license? I would like to modify to use them with Cairn, likely only for personal use but I could upload them for free on itch and Credit you If possible.

Thanks for the kind words! I'll be honest- I'm not too knowledgeable about or concern myself much with licenses. Maybe I should be 😄but if you'd like to modify these to be Cairn compatible, please feel free! Including credit (a link to my work) on your itch page and somewhere in your product would be ideal. I also try to keep as much of my own work free (by using a 'pay what you like' model) and would encourage you to do the same if you're using my work. Thank you very much for your interest! It really means a lot to me

One way you could encourage that sort of thing you’re talking about is to use the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license. It basically lets others use/modify your work but they have to release it under the same license. You can still sell them as well.

For some examples see the work Wuggy has been doing.

dang, Wuggy's work is awesome! Thanks for the intro!

And thanks for the intro to that creative commons license. I'll update my itch pages with it. This deck being my very first publication, I didn't exactly make it very edit friendly (I'm living and learning 😅) but I'll keep it in mind with future projects

Most excellent. I’d also recommend you add a text file with the license declaration in your zip file if you haven’t already.

Great job though!

Thanks for giving feedback Yochai and also thanks adjusting the license Seagull Dreams.

I’d love to see the result of this. I use these tokens frequently in VTT format and had a similar idea.

Allright - then I'll put it on itch once I am done. Likely in around 2 weeks.

Whoo!

This is great. Thank you very much. So much quality, so pretty.

From now on, i think this'll be a must have at the table.

Thank you for your kind words! I hope they help inspire some fun games!
